What Is Spring Steel ?

Spring steel refers to steel, ordinarily of the high carbon or alloy type, utilized within the manufacture of springs. The steel is handled by cold drawing, cold rolling, or heat treating to deliver it the flexible properties and yield quality required in springs. Spring steel is frequently utilized since of its high yield qualities, resistance to deformation, and its capacity to return to its unique shape. Our spring steel and spring steel strips are accessible as heat-treatable annealed, which permits the shaping to happen earlier to the heat treatment, or heat treated, where the steel is already solidified, tempered, or sprung. Our stock of annealed spring steel can be effectively shaped, tempered, heat treated, blanked or formed.

Unique Properties Of Spring Steel

We carries annealed spring steel in three varieties, which are distinguished based on their carbon content:

    1. AISI 1050 has the lowest carbon content, making it easily formable. It also can be heat treated in order to increase hardness.
    2. AISI 1074 and 1075 have a medium carbon content that’s been spheroidized to increase its formability, and can be heat treated.
    3. AISI 1095 has the highest carbon content of the spring steels we carry. It can be heat treated, and also has the highest elasticity and fatigue values.
